“The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge muster their strength”

~Proverbs 24:5

From Caleb –

I was sitting in my first period class today at school thinking about what I would want my first personal post to be about. I thought about what is something that I could talk about that is simple and you could implement right after reading the blog. Naturally, I wanted to talk about sharing the Gospel.

People are often scared about sharing their faith because they’re afraid they will face opposition. Maybe. You might be right. But, living in America, there is no brutal, life-threatening opposition to sharing your faith. People are very willing to talk with you about your spirituality. People now a days, consider themselves “spiritual” but they definitely don’t treasure Christ. This makes getting involved in a conversation easy.

From what I have found, people struggle to start the conversation. Once the conversation has started they loosen up some, but they struggle to get over their nerves of starting the conversation. Today we’re gonna talk about how to make talking about your faith easier!

1. Sharing the Gospel with yourself daily – This is the first thing we should be reminding of ourselves, DAILY. You have to share the Good News with yourself daily.

If you don’t do this, it’s easy to lose awe at the sacrifice Jesus has made for all mankind. Without sharing the Gospel with yourself daily, you’ll forget the thing that made you cry out to Jesus for salvation in the first place, and that’s the fact that you and are both sinners; we all needed to confess our sins to Jesus and hand our lives over to Him.

Confessing our need for Jesus in our lives is not just a one time thing. It is an everyday thing, don’t give pride a foothold in your life by forgetting the sacrifice of Jesus! Try sharing the Gospel with yourself the same way you would your friend. If you need to, try using a mirror. It will make starting up conversations with other people so much easier.

2. Talking with your Christian friends – So many of us struggle to share your faith with other people or talk about Jesus because you don’t do it with other Christians.

I know… Some may deny it, but think on your own life and think about how frequently you talk with your Christian friends about Jesus.

In 2018, I don’t see much talking about Jesus between Christian friends on a regular basis. WHY?! If you think it’s awkward between you and another follower of Christ, there is no way you will be able to talk about Jesus and salvation with ease when that person isn’t a Christian.

There is nothing you can really do to improve this other than just get out there and do it! Start by sharing something simple! Ask your friend about what the Lord has taught them recently, or share with them something you have learned recently through experience or time in God’s word. You be the one that sets the example and starts the conversation and your friends will follow, just don’t wait for them to start the conversation.

3. We think they won’t listen – Not true,  it’s a lie from the enemy.

Researchers have said that “Generation Z” (People born 1999-2015) is the most spiritually dark generations in history; however, despite of that, many people consider themselves to be “spiritual” people, and they are ready and willing to listen to what you have to say. Most people are welcoming and willing to talk about spiritual things. All you have to do is start the conversation. There is nothing to be afraid of!

I end with a challenge to talk about the reasons you have hope in Jesus Christ with your Christian friends. It will grow you both and will inspire both of you to speak the Good News to all of those people who do not treasure Jesus the way you and I do.
